Easter heralds a time of newness-the stone has been rolled away and the Risen Christ emerges with salvation for all! It is a time to cast away old grudges, past shames and well-worn hurts. It is a time to be and do that which is new. It is a time to revel in a God of mercy who forgives. Continue reading

For forty days we fasted. What did that mean? We denied ourselves something we enjoyed. We pushed aside something we might otherwise indulge upon. We resisted immediate satisfaction. We begin our journey with a mark on our forehead. It draws questions and stares from strangers, coworkers and neighbors. In a way, this practice is embarrassing! But before you wipe off your ashes, recall that they symbolize our sinfulness. By wearing these ashes today, we publicly acknowledge our human imperfection. Continue reading

Thoughts from Pope Francis “Where do I find hope? In the poor Jesus, Jesus who made himself poor for us. And you spoke of poverty. Poverty calls us to sow hope. This seems a bit difficult to understand. Continue reading

Temptation is the Enemy’s way of tricking us into forgetting our own human dignity-Satan wants nothing more than for us to forget that we are uniquely made in the image and likeness of God, and that that same God loves us more than we can imagine. That’s why, in the Garden of Eden, Satan tempts Eve “to become like God.” Continue reading
